Features We Love in Outdoor Living Spaces
Beautiful outdoor living spaces are becoming an essential feature for Macomb County homes. They expand the living area of your home and make summer time entertaining enjoyable for everyone, from the kids to your resident chef. Many of our clients come to us with huge plans for their outdoor living space, many time their plans work, sometimes they are just too much. When our client’s vision for their outdoor living space is too much for their existing space, we like to offer some of the best features that will give them the biggest bang for their buck. Here are some of our favorites.
We love outdoor kitchens and they can be made with just about any landscaping material, from brick and stone to wood and metal. Outdoor kitchens are becoming hugely popular for all homeowners, even the ones with small backyards or outdoor spaces. The great thing about installing an outdoor kitchen is that we can design the perfect size kitchen and suggest the best appliances for any size outdoor space. Even if you are working with a small townhouse backyard, we can design a really beautiful and useful outdoor kitchen.
Sure, you have a choice for your patio material. You can use concrete or you can install brick or stone pavers. But if you ask us, we think all patios should be made with pavers. Here’s why. Pavers don’t require any more maintenance from you, the homeowner, than concrete. They are long lasting and are more customizable than concrete. The best part, if your paver patio is damaged or shows signs of shifting, we can remove the damaged areas quickly and easily, for timely and inexpensive repairs and replacements. When your concrete is damaged, the whole slab needs to be removed and replaced.
Another really popular feature for outdoor living spaces in southeast Michigan is the fire pit. Fire pits allow you to keep your outdoor entertaining and relaxing time going as long into the night and into the cooler weather as you want. Fire pits can be designed to burn wood, can be plumed into your home’s natural gas, or can run off of standard propane tanks. Brick pavers and stone are ideal materials for fire pits and we can coordinate or contrast your fire pit with your paver patio and outdoor kitchen. One thing to remember about fire pits is that not all HOAs or communities allow wood burning fire pits, so make sure you know the rules before we plan your design.
Since we are not only experts at building a beautiful outdoor living space, but also provide complete landscape design services, we think that it’s important that your outdoor living space has some softer, living aspects included. Incorporate paver retaining walls and brick or stone planters that contain flowers or serve as the foundation for vegetables, for added beauty and color.
